An elliptical-shaped housing contains a UV light source and a power source. A connector is removably mounted in the housing and is disinfected or sterilized by UV light. A reflective coating inside the housing enhances the intensity of the UV light to disinfect or sterilize the connector.

1. An assembly for disinfecting a connector, comprising;
a housing having an elliptical shape, the housing having an inner surface, an outer surface, and a cover to removably contain a connector; an UV light source mounted inside the housing so that no portion of the UV light source contacts the housing inner surface; a power source and an electronic circuit for controlling electrical power to the UV light source; and a reflective coating on at least a portion on the housing inner surface for enhancing the intensity of the UV light source to disinfect the connector.
