The invention relates to blinds, components of blinds and assembly of blinds, and particularly to the tilt mechanism of a Venetian blind (10). The tilt mechanism includes 5 a slider element (20) to which the cords (28a, 28b) of the cord ladder (26) are attached. The slider element (20) has a base portion (34) fixedly mounted in an aperture (22) of the head rail (12), and a sliding portion (36). The ladder cords (28a, 28b) are routed through holes (38, 40) in the base portion (34), through a void (50) between the sliding portion (36) and the base portion (34) and out of the ends of the slider element (20). The 10 ends of the ladder cords (28a, 28b) are secured proximate respective ends of the sliding portion (36). The void (50) is divided into separate chambers (74, 76, 78) and the holes (38, 40) of the base portion (34) communicate each with a respective chamber. A further hole (42) and chamber (78) may be provided to accommodate a lift cord. Tangling of the cords is eliminated, and the compact arrangement allows a slim and 15 attractive head rail to be used.
