摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal continuously variable transmission capable of improving the power transmission efficiency by decreasing the temperature of a power roller through employing inner race spin control in a thrust ball bearing of the power roller, and also capable of maintaining durability against heat generation in an outer race due to the inner race spin control. SOLUTION: In the toroidal continuously variable transmission, an outer race 28 is not supported via a shaft with respect to a trunnion 15, and can be displaced along an inner surface of the trunnion 15 opposing to the outer race 28. The outer race 28 is formed of high carbon steel having heat resistance. The power roller as an inner race is formed of low carbon steel having a carbon content lower than that of the high carbon steel, and subjected to carbonitriding treatment.
