发明名称 Improvements in skimming devices for glass tanks or furnaces and to the gathering of charges therefrom
摘要 438,850. Glass manufacture. PEARSON, T. F., The Poplars, Ackworth Road, Pontefract, Yorkshire. April 23, 1934, No. 12136/35. Divided out of 441,682. [Class 56] A device for skimming the surface of a body of molten glass in a furnace forehearth comprises a skimmer 5 which is dipped into the glass close to a wall 3 of the forehearth and is then moved away from the wall, thus providing a fresh surface of hot glass into which a gathering-head is dipped to gather a charge immediately after the passage of the skimmer and before it returns to its original position close to the wall 3. The skimmer is substantially the width of the channel of the forehearth, and it is moved in a rectangular path by cams 18, 29 so that it is lifted out of the glass before making the backward stroke to its initial position. Preferably a bridge 2 is submerged in the glass, just beyond the range of the skimmer, in order to prevent the chilled glass from moving back, and to ensure a flow of subsurface glass, into the skimmed area.
