摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for improving a cobalt recovery rate in the dry treatment of wasted batteries such as lithium ion batteries. <P>SOLUTION: A method for recovering cobalt from wasted batteries containing iron and cobalt includes: a melting step ST21 melting the waste batteries to obtain a molten material; a slag separation step ST 22 separating slag from the molten material; and an alloy separation step ST23 separating an alloy of valued metals from the molten material. In the melting step ST21, an oxidant is added so that metal iron and an iron oxide coexist in the molten material. Then, the slag containing the iron oxide is recovered in the slag separation step ST22, the alloy containing the metal iron and metal cobalt is recovered in the alloy separation step ST23, and the oxidant such as air is added so that a mass ratio of the metal iron relative to the total iron amount in terms of iron element is 35% or more and 60% or less in the molten material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p>
