[Class 143] Relates to an apparatus for filling bags, sacks and like containers whilst supported on a weighing device and wherein the rate of movement of the material on its way to the bag is accelerated by impelling means. The invention consists in supporting the impelling means upon a moving part of the weighing device subject to the weighing movement. As shown, the material in a supply hopper 9 is admitted to a weighing receptacle 15 by means of two feed gates 13, 14 operated automatically by known means to deliver the desired charge. Within the weighing receptacle is an impelling wheel 21 rotated by an electric motor carried by the weighing receptacle. The material is urged by the impelling wheel through an inclined nozzle 25 and into a valve bag 26 clamped thereto by a clamp 27 and supported on a tiltable seating 119 carried by a downward extension of the weighing receptacle. On removing the clamp the filled bag slides off the nozzle and may readily be tipped off the seating 119. Steady links 32, 33 are provided. The impelling wheel 21 may be continuously rotated or may be stopped during the weighing operation or during the final stage. Tapping or shaking devices, preferably acting on the lower part of the bag, may be provided, such devices together with their drive being carried by the moving part of the weighing mechanism. A flexible tube 20 confines dust. The supply hopper contains a distributing drum 36 rotated continuously or only when the feed gates are open.
