[Class 53] [See also Group XXXVII] A battery is contained in a box which is provided with two press buttons B<1>, B<2> for controlling two external circuits leading from the battery. The box is provided with four sockets a<1> with which four plugs 1, 2, 3, 4 on the lid A<1> engage. The battery is inserted in the box with its terminals in contact with the plug and socket 1 and a spring contact c<1> connected to the plug and socket 2. Socket 4 is connected through metal strips to a strip b4 above and out of contact with which is a strip b<3> connected to the socket 1. When button B<1> is depressed it presses the strip b<3> into contact with strip b<4> and the battery terminal in contact with the socket 1 is thus joined to the plug and socket 4 and current for an external circuit can be taken from the sockets 2, 4. When button B<2> is depressed it presses a strip b<7> into contact with strip b<3> and the battery terminal at 1 is connected to socket 3. Current can then be taken from the sockets 2, 3. The device may be used for energizing two solenoids for opening and closing a gas valve. Fig. 7 shows a modification in which the buttons B<1>, B<2> are used for reversing the direction of the current in a single circuit connected to the sockets 3, 4. When the button B<1> is depressed it presses the strips b<3>, b<10> into contact with metal strips beneath them and the current flows from the socket 1 to socket 4 and from the socket 2 to socket 3, the external circuit being connected to the sockets 3, 4. When the button B<2> is depressed the current flows from socket 1 to socket 3, through the external circuit and back to socket 4 which is now connected to socket 2. |
