<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive assistance device for a vehicle and a drive assistance method for a vehicle capable of suitably performing drive assistance according to the drive operation of a driver. <P>SOLUTION: The drive operation of the driver and a traveling environment of an own vehicle are detected, and when the detected drive operation is drive operation not capable of attaining a drive purpose (avoidance of contact with a front object or the like) according to the traveling environment of the own vehicle, an operation assistance actuator is drive-controlled so as to generate a drive operation assistance force for attaining the drive purpose.
