Book binding machine with cover placement device

A moving book block pincer (2) has a rigid inner clamping jaw (2a) and movable outer clamping jaw (2b). A separating device (7) is provided to withdraw the cover (13) from magazine (3). A cover pressing device (11) is provided to press the cover to back of book block (14.1). The side stops (6.1,6.2) are arranged transversely to peeling direction (12) for different book blocks. The magazine is adjusted by adjustment unit (16) transversely to peeling direction so that the cover isolated from the magazine is in alignment with the edge (17) and the inner clamping jaw.
