<p>A network element for supporting communication within at least one communication cell of a cellular communication network (100) includes a receiver (107) for listening to broadcast messages of neighbouring cells and associated signal processing logic (105) for decoding the messages and extracting System Information/Packet System information therefrom. The decoded values can be used in a Network Assist Cell Change (NACC) operation for enabling a User Equipment (106) to reselect from a source cell to a target cell. Advantageously, the arrangement assists cell changes without interruption in data reception and without the need for Network Operators to employ a complex Radio Access Network Information Management (RIM) mechanism.</p> |
