Continuous production of dialkylcarbonate compounds (I) and alkylene glycol compounds (II) as byproduct, comprises transesterification of a cyclic alkylene carbonate with an alcohol compound (III) in the presence of a catalyst. Continuous production of dialkylcarbonate compounds of formula ((R1O) 2CO) (I) and alkylene glycol compounds of formula (R2(OH) 2) (II) as byproduct, comprises transesterification of a cyclic alkylene carbonate with an alcohol compound of formula (R1OH) (III) in the presence of a catalyst, where the transesterification is carried out in a column in reverse flow so that a cyclic alkylene carbonate stream (1) is introduced in the upper part of the column and a dialkyl carbonate-containing alcohol stream (3) is introduced in the middle or lower part of the column and additionally a further entry point for an alcohol-containing stream (4) is provided below the introduction of the dialkyl carbonate-containing alcohol; and the ratio between the distance of alkylene carbonate-entry point to the entry point of the dialkyl carbonate-containing alcohol stream and the distance of alkylene carbonate-entry point to the second alcohol-entry point is 0.20-0.52. R1 : linear or branched 1-4C; and R2 : 2-4C-alkyl. |
