PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform correction exceeding correction capability, when a stationary error is included. SOLUTION: An error correction circuit includes: a first error detection circuit 1 for discriminating an error type included in input data; a stationary error detection circuit 2 for, when the error type is either a one-byte error or a two-byte error, determining whether or not the error is the stationary error which occurs in a particular byte in a stationary manner; a data generation circuit 4 for, when the stationary error is included in the two-byte error, repetitively generating a substitution byte which replaces the byte in which the stationary error occurs; a second error detection circuit 3 for, when the stationary error is included in the two-byte error, repeating error detection until the two-byte error becomes one-byte error by replacing the byte in which the stationary error occurs with the substitution byte; an error correction circuit 5 for, when the second error detection circuit 3 detects that the input data comes to have the one-byte error, executing the error correction of the input data.
