PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material for organic EL element which ensures high luminous efficiency by suppressing concentration quenching, and is applicable to a coating organic EL by enhancing solubility of indium complex. SOLUTION: A luminous layer containing at least an orthometallized iridium complex as a phosphorescent luminescent complex is sandwiched by a positive electrode and a negative electrode. As a structural isomer of the facial body of orthometallized iridium complex, a liquid containing 0.1-5% of meridional and into which phosphorescent luminescent complex is dissolved or dispersed is used.
