摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel oxide fine powder that is suitable for a material for electronic parts, has a controlled sulfur content, and a low chlorine content, and is fine, and a commercially stable process for producing the same. SOLUTION: The process for producing the nickel fine powder comprises neutralizing with an alkali an aqueous solution of a nickel salt obtained by mixing nickel chloride and nickel sulfate in a way that the ratio of the amount of the nickel sulfate to the aggregate amount of the nickel salts is not less than 0.1 mol% and less than 50 mol%, heat-treating the nickel hydroxide obtained at a temperature not lower than 800°C and lower than 950°C to form nickel oxide particles, and pulverizing the sintered compact of the nickel oxide particles formed by the heat treatment preferably by colliding the particles with each other. The nickel oxide fine powder obtained has a sulfur content of 300-500 ppm by mass, a chlorine content of less than 100 ppm by mass, a sodium content of 100 ppm by mass, and a specific surface area of not less than 3 m<SP>2</SP>/g.
