A memory device and a method for operating the same are provided. The memory device comprises: a memory cell; a sensing circuit which is connected to the memory cell through first and second paths separated from each other, and senses data stored in the memory cell; and a sample-hold circuit which is connected between the memory cell and the sensing circuit, and separates an interval in which a voltage of the first and second paths is developed according to the data stored in the memory cell and an interval for sensing the data stored in the memory cell by detecting the voltage of the first and second paths developed by the sensing circuit.
