<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet detection element and an ultraviolet detector for possibly detecting an ultraviolet light in a wide area, and reducing a fluctuation in an electrical characteristic in each element. <P>SOLUTION: Electrodes 2, 3 are formed on a substrate 1. An ultraviolet absorption layer 4 is laminated on the electrodes 2, 3. The electrode 2 comprises a detection electrode section 2a and an electrode section 2b. The electrode 3 comprises a detection electrode section 3a and an extraction electrode section 3b.
