A flexible electro-osmotic liquid transport membrane comprises a porous layer 1 having coatings at least partly forming pore walls, said porous layer being positioned between first and second porous conductive layers 2, 3. Other disclosed membranes comprise pore walls made of inorganic material, with the conductive layers being in the form of conductive coatings, and pore walls made of a material comprising a siloxane, a metal salt, glass or a silicon oxide. The porous layer of a further disclosed membrane may have a web-like structure, a foamy structure or a structure with cylindrical pores. The porous layer may be a glass fibre porous layer (1, figure 2). A textile product, which may be clothing, seating or a mattress, comprises the membrane of the invention and a fabric layer. Also disclosed is a method of making a flexible electro-osmotic liquid transport membrane comprising the steps of providing a porous layer and applying coatings thereto so as to reduce the size of at least some of the pores. |
