Object information derived from object images

Search terms are derived automatically from images captured by a camera equipped cell phone, PDA, or other image capturing device, submitted to a search engine to obtain information of interest, and at least a portion of the resulting information is transmitted back locally to, or nearby, the device that captured the image.

1. A method for providing shopping information that is associated with products, comprising:
maintaining a directory of data related to products; accessing, via a computer device processor, one or more products appropriate to a location of a mobile device; recognizing the one or more products accessed that are appropriate to the location of the mobile device; matching at least one product related to the data in the directory with the one or more products accessed that are appropriate to the location of the mobile device, wherein the matching is based at least in part on a look up of data in a directory based on an appropriate location of the recognized one or more products relative to the mobile device; presenting, via mobile device, an information address associated with the at least one product related to the data in the directory based at least in part on the matching of the at least one product related to the data in the directory with the one or more products accessed, wherein upon selecting the information address the user is provided shopping opportunities related the at least one product related to the data in the directory.
