摘要 The present invention relates to a modular supramolecular bioresorbable or biomedical material comprising (i) a polymer comprising at least two 4H-units and (ii) a biologically active compound. Optionally, the supramolecular bioresorbable or bio medical material comprises a bioresorbable or biomedical polymer as third component to tune its properties (mechanical and bioresorption properties). The supramolecular bioresorbable or biomedical material is especially suitable for biomedical applications such as controlled release of drugs, materials for tissue-engineering, materials for the manufacture of a prosthesis or an implant, medical imaging technologies.

A supramolecular material comprising: (a) a polymer comprising at least two 4H-units; and (b) a biologically active compound covalently bonded to one to ten 4H-units that are not the 4H-units of (a); wherein the supramolecular material comprises 50.00-99.99 percent by weight of the polymer and 0.01-50.00 percent by weight of the biologically active compound, based on the total weight of the supramolecular material; and wherein the 4H-units of (a) and (b) have the general formula (3) or formula (4) and tautomers thereof: wherein X is nitrogen atom or a carbon atom bearing a substituent R8 selected from the group consisting of: (i) hydrogen; (ii) C1-C20 alkyl; (iii) C6-C12 aryl; (iv) C7-C12 alkaryl; (v) C7-C12 alkylaryl; (vi) polyester groups having the formula (5) wherein R4 and Y are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and C1-C6 linear or branched alkyl, n is 1 to 6, and m is 10 to 100; (vii) C1-C10 alkyl groups substituted with 1-4 ureido groups according to the formula (6) R5—NH—C(O)—NH—  (6) wherein R5 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and C1-C6 linear or branched alkyl; and (viii) polyether groups having the formula (7) wherein R6, Wand Y are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and C1-C6 linear or branched alkyl and o is 10 to 100, wherein the least two 4H-units of (a) are bonded to the backbone of the polymer via R1, R2 and/or R3 with the other R1, R2 and R3 groups representing, independently, a side chain according to (i)-(viii), and wherein the 4H-units of (b) are bonded to the biologically active compound via R1, with R2 and R3 representing, independently, a side chain according to (i)-(viii).
