摘要 |
A scintillator receives radiation and produces light. The scintillator is composed of columnar crystals arranged upright. Conical end portions of the columnar crystals are embedded in a resin layer formed on a light detection section. The resin layer, made from a thermosetting resin material, is heated and cured with the end portions embedded therein. Because a refractive index of the resin layer is lower than that of the columnar crystals, average refractive indices of respective layers between the columnar crystals and the light detection section change continuously. The resin layer prevents the end portions from damage and improves efficiency of incidence on the light detection section. |

1. A radiation detection device comprising:
a scintillator having a plurality of columnar crystals arranged upright, the scintillator converting incident radiation into light and emitting the light from end portions of the columnar crystals; a light detection section disposed to face the end portions of the columnar crystals, the light detection section detecting the light from the end portions; and a resin layer disposed between the scintillator and the light detection section, the resin layer having recesses formed by the end portions pressed against the resin layer, at least a part of the each end portion being embedded in the each recess, the resin layer passing the light from the end portions. |
