A generator-motor (14) is driven by power generated by the motor-generator (2) through an indirect matrix converter (8). The power generated by the generator is stored in a capacitor (22) through a converter (10) and a chopper (20) of the indirect matrix converter (8). A battery (26) is coupled through a chopper (24) to a capacitor (22).
