METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TEXT INPUTTING USING BY REMOTE CONTROLLER

A method for inputting characters comprises a first step for receiving a first signal assigned to a selected virtual key when the virtual key included in a virtual keyboard is selected by using a cursor operating unit of a remote control; a second step for receiving a second signal assigned to a selected key button when the key button of the remote control is selected; and a third step for enabling a control unit to display the character on a display unit after completing the character by combining the first signal with the second signal. The present invention is provided to all kinds of character input by using the method for inputting the characters by using the remote control and a device thereof even though the number of key buttons in the remote control are reduced, thereby simplifying and miniaturizing the remote control. The present invention is provided to enable a user to input the characters by using a touch pad and the key buttons of the remote control, thereby enabling the user to rapidly input the characters.
