PURPOSE: A system for monitoring internal variables of an electronic control unit (ECU) and a method thereof are provided to regularly monitor an ECU. CONSTITUTION: A host PC (100) generates at least one data packet using the address information of internal variables for monitoring. The host PC transmits the data packet to an ECU (110). The ECU receives a function packet and the data packet from the host PC (S201). The ECU generates a data packet using the data information of the internal variables according to the monitoring period included in the function packet.
