<p>The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for controlling USB data by using an IP network. A receiver transmits data to an administrator computer at a remote location and enables the administrator computer to receive the data from the receiver and store the data, or checks the connection of a USB device to utilize various programs or functions installed at the administrator computer, generates an Ethernet packet based on USB data received from the USB device, and transmits the generated Ethernet packet to a transmitter through a network. The transmitter extracts the USB data from the Ethernet packet received from the receiver, and transmits the extracted USB data to the administrator computer connected through a USB cable. The administrator computer stores data provided by the USB device based on the USB data that is received from the receiver at a remote location through the transmitter, or processes the utilization of pre-installed various programs or functions based on the interface of the USB device. As a result, the present invention solves the problem of compatibility between USB devices and an administrator computer, thereby enabling integrated management of USB interfaces; enables easy wiring arrangement for the administrator computer, thereby providing an environmental advantage; unlike the existing method using a relay, eliminates the need of software for interfacing with a USB device at the administrator computer; also eliminates the need of drivers for various USB devices to be installed at a transmitter and a receiver; and avoids data compression, decompression, conversion, etc. when transmitting USB data, thereby reducing the deformation and loss of the USB data.</p> |
