The present invention provides an array substrate for a fringe field switching mode liquid crystal display device and a manufacturing method thereof. The fringe field switching mode liquid crystal display device includes: a plurality of gate lines and data lines which are formed to cross each other on a display area of a substrate, wherein the substrate includes the display area having a plurality of pixel areas and first to fourth non-display areas at up/down/left/right sides of the substrate and the gate and data lines are formed on the display area with a gate insulation film interposed between them; a plurality of gate auxiliary lines which are formed on the same layer, where the data line is formed, to be parallel with the data line and connected to one of the gate lines; a common line which is formed on the same layer, where the data line is formed, to be parallel with the data line; thin Film Transistors (TFTs) which are connected to each of the gate and data lines and formed on the respective pixel areas; a first protective layer which is formed on a front surface of the substrate over the TFT; a planarization layer which is formed on the display area over the first protective layer; a common electrode which is formed on the display area over the planarization layer; a second protective layer which is formed on the front surface of the substrate over the common electrode; and pixel electrodes which are formed to be connected to one of electrodes of the TFT at the respective pixel areas over the second protective layer and include a plurality of first bar-type openings. In the gate auxiliary line, provided are a protrusion portion, which is adjacent to the gate line connected to the gate auxiliary line and branched to be parallel with the gate line, and a first connection pattern which commonly contacts the protrusion portion and the gate line. The common line and the common electrode are characterized in being in electrical contact with a second connection pattern which commonly contacts the common line and the common electrode. |
