Provided are a display device, color film substrate and manufacturing method thereof, the color film substrate comprising: a substrate (1); a color pixel area comprising multiple pixel units, the pixel units at least comprising red sub-pixel units (31), blue sub-pixel units (33), and green sub-pixel units (32); the sub-pixel units of each color included in the pixel units are intervally disposed on one side of the substrate (1); a black matrix (2) is disposed between sub-pixel units of each color. The manufacturing method of the color film substrate comprises: first forming a color pixel area, and then employing an ink jetting process to form the black matrix (2) between the sub-pixel units of each color, thus effectively reducing the defective product rate on a production line, and reducing production costs.
