A first-flush rainwater diverter system, whereby an initial, relatively polluted volume of harvested rooftop rainwater runoff may be discarded, while subsequent, relatively clean flow may be stored in a cistern. The diverter system is connectible inline with eavestrough downspouts in a range of cross section profiles and dimensions. An inlet port receives the harvested runoff, while two outlet ports discharge the influent runoff¨one into drainage conduits, the other into cistern conduits for storage. Influent runoff is selectively and exclusively routed to either one of the outlet ports by a pivotable flow deflector linked to an actuator servomechanism that is governed by a programmable microcontroller. The microcontroller is set with location-specific parameters and receives periodic, real-time precipitation rate information from a remote, digital rain gauge, to effect storage of a maximal volume of minimally polluted influent rainwater runoff.
|
