PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound and/or composition capable of modulating protein phosphatase-2A (PP2A) activity.SOLUTION: Specified compounds expressed by formulae mentioned in the present specification (e.g., formulae I, Ia, Ib, Ic, Id, Ie, If, Ig, and/or Ih) as well as classes and subclasses thereof mentioned in the present specification are capable of modulating PP2A activity. Compounds capable of modulating the PP2A activity can potentially be useful for treating various diseases and/or disorders instantiated, for example, by neurodegeneration, diabetes, and metabolic disorders. In some embodiments, the compounds directly modulate the PP2A activity. In other embodiments, the compounds indirectly modulate the PP2A activity. In some other embodiments, the compounds modulate PP2A methylated states. In still other embodiments, the compounds modulate activity of PP2A methyltransferase. |
