<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure for detecting the presence of paper in each paper tray while inhibiting the cost increase in a recording device including the paper trays forming multiple tiers.SOLUTION: A printer 1 comprises: a lower tier side tray 40; and an upper tier side tray 45 provided above the lower tier side tray 40. An optical sensor 16 is provided above the upper tier side tray 45 for detecting the presence of paper. The upper tier side tray 45 is slidably provided and the upper tier side tray 45 is slid thereby switching the state of the optical sensor 16 between a state where the optical sensor 16 faces the upper tier side tray 45 and a state where the optical sensor 16 faces the lower tier side tray 40. Thus, the presence of the paper is detected in the multiple trays by the one sensor.</p> |
