PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that, since decay and decomposition of antifoulant coatings cause deterioration of the protective effect of the antifoulant agent and requires re-application of a coating in a relatively short time, there is required a coating material which is applicable to under-water surfaces of ships to prevent proliferation of fouling organisms on the surfaces, does not emit large quantities of toxic substances into the surrounding environment and has a long lifetime.SOLUTION: An antifouling coating for ships comprises 40-61 wt.% of a polymer, 37-55 wt.% of a biocide for ships, 2-12 wt.% of a preservative and 2-8 wt.% of an arbitrary anti-microbial agent, causes the ingredients to bind chemically to the polymer and thereby notably reduces the capability of the biocide, preservative and the anti-microbial agent of exuding from the coating into the surrounding environment. |
