PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which solves the problems of display defects, such as voids, orientation unevenness and image persistence, by using a color filter including a specific liquid crystal composition and a specific pigment, and thereby preventing decrease in voltage holding ratio (VHR) and increase in ion density (ID) of a liquid crystal layer.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device comprises: a first substrate; a second substrate; a liquid crystal composition layer held between the first substrate and the second substrate; a color filter composed of at least an RGB three pixel part; a pixel electrode; and a common electrode. The liquid crystal composition layer is composed of a liquid crystal composition including at least one compound selected from a specific compound group represented by a specific general formula. An R pixel part of the RGB three color pixel part includes, as a color material, a diketopyrrolopyrrole red pigment having an average primary particle diameter of 5 to 50 nm when measured by a small-angle X-ray scattering technique. |
