PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus which collects MRA images at an imaging portion containing the heart and blood flow information based on the MRA images with proper time resolution and spatial resolution.SOLUTION: The MRI apparatus includes an imaging data collection unit and a blood flow image generation unit. The imaging data collection unit collects a plurality of pieces of imaging data each corresponding to mutually different travelling periods of time of blood from an imaging region without contrast accompanied by a delay time of electrocardiogram synchronization by changing a period of time BBTI from a timing for applying a region selective excitation pulse discriminating the blood flowing in the imaging region including cardiac muscle and displaying it to a timing for collecting the imaging data. At this time, the imaging data collection unit sets a delay time td2 in the electrocardiogram synchronization so that the plurality of pieces of imaging data are collected while making cardiac phases uniform throughout the different travelling periods of time. The blood flow image generation unit generates blood flow image data on the basis of the imaging data.
