摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image capturing optical system which is compatible with 1/2 inch or smaller solid-state image sensors and offers compactness, lightness, superior mass producibility, and a low price while maintaining optical performance with a wide view angle of no less than 80 degrees in total view angle, for example, and to provide an image capturing device having the same.SOLUTION: A plurality of lenses 10-70 constituting an image capturing optical system 100 are arranged to satisfy predetermined conditions to keep an absolute value of power small for each lens group. Surface shapes of lenses located before an aperture stop, whose curvature radii tend to be small compared to a focal length of the entire system when producing a wide-angle lens, and surface shapes of biconvex or biconcave lenses located after the aperture stop are defined to reduce aberrations and provide good aberration properties and to come up with lens shapes that are easy to fabricate. Furthermore, avoiding use of high refractive index optical materials makes such optical system and image capturing device inexpensive.</p>
