PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for vehicle that includes a damping force varying device and performs automatic stop/start control and that secures a learning opportunity of the damping force varying device while suppressing deterioration in drivability.SOLUTION: There is provided a controller for vehicle that includes an AVS, and performs S&S control to automatically stop an engine when a predetermined automatic stop condition is met and to put the engine back from the automatic stop state when a predetermined restart condition is met. Restart conditions comprise a driver request condition which is met as a driver intends to start and a non-driver request condition which is met not based upon the driver's intention to start. Once the non-driver request condition is met, learning control by the AVS is performed after the engine is put back from the automatic stop state. |
