449,130. Filters. HOUGHTON, L. E., and HOUGHTON, C. M., The Lodge, Moulsoe, Bletchley, Buckinghamshire. Oct. 8, 1935, No. 27727. [Class 46] A filter band or cloth is wound on a roller 1 and passed over or under rollers 2, 3, 4, 5, mounted in a frame 11, the end of the cloth being attached to hooks 8 on the frame. The rollers 3 are narrow and engage only the edges of the band so that a trough is formed. The band at this position has no supporting surface and liquid supplied to the trough filters freely through. The cloth is unwound from the roller 1, to renew the filter surface, by means of a roller 6 and weights 10, the speed at which the roller 1 turns being controlled by an adjustable gear-driven governor 9. The rollers are mounted in the frame in such a way that they can be readily detached. When applied for filtering milk the apparatus may be placed so that the trough is in or above the trough of a milk cooler. The device may be operated by mechanical or electrical means instead of by the roller 6. |
