The present invention relates to an image processing device for a vehicle and a control method thereof. The present invention provides the image processing device for a vehicle, which detects an on/off state of the vehicle′s engine through the on-board diagnostics (OBD) communications by connecting a vehicle black box to an OBD terminal connected to an engine control unit (ECU) of the vehicle, and which can distinguish a running mode and a parking mode of the black box according to the condition and perform each function, and the control method thereof.
