PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a yeast having a high xylose assimilation ability of a xylose consumption ability and a fermentation ability.SOLUTION: Provided is a protein, at the time of aligning with an amino acid sequence represented by a specific sequence of xylose isomerase (XI) derived from Reticulitermes speratus enteral protista, having a first to a sixth motif respectively expressed from the near side to an N-terminal side in this order, and having an amino acid sequence having another amino acid for asparagine (N) in the amino acid sequence of the sixth motif, and having a xylose isomerase activity.
