The present invention relates to an in vitro process for the immunological diagnosis of a human subject with regard to diseases affecting the kidneys or a risk of acquiring diseases affecting the kidneys or graft-versus-host disease or at risk of acquiring graft-versus-host disease by determining immunologically the presence and/or concentration of the peptide ALB408-423 (SEQ ID NO 1 ) in a sample comprising the steps of (a) contacting the sample with a capture reagent which is capable of specifically binding to ALB408-415 (LVRYTKKC), SEQ ID NO 2), (a) contacting the sample with a detecting reagent which is capable of specifically binding to ALB416-423 (CPQVSTPTL, SEQ ID NO 3), (b) determining the presence and/or amount of ALB408-423 (SEQ ID NO 1 ) bound to capture and detecting reagent formed in step (a), (b).
