N-11 TRUNCATED AMYLOID-BETA MONOCLONAL ANTIBODIES, COMPOSITIONS, METHODS AND USES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monoclonal antibody which specifically recognizes an A&bgr;11-x peptide.SOLUTION: Monoclonal antibodies are obtained by priming with four species of peptides. The first two synthetic peptides comprise the first 5 to 7 human amino acids (AA) at the &bgr;-secretase 11 cleavage site: EVHHQ (KI)-C (human A&bgr;11 (6 to 8 AA)). The other two peptides for immunisation contain a mouse A&bgr;11 AA sequence; EVRHQ (KL)-C. This invention relates to antibodies, including specified portions or variants, specific for at least a human Amyloid-beta 11 N-terminal site, i.e. A&bgr;11-x peptides. It further provides methods of making and using the antibodies, including therapeutic formulations, administration and devices comprising the antibodies.
