<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber manufacturing method which can reduce the loss of optical fiber manufacturing opportunities.SOLUTION: An optical fiber G2 manufacturing method comprises: inserting an optical fiber preform G into a heating furnace 2 provided in a drawing tower 6; heating and melting the optical fiber preform G; drawing it to form an optical fiber G1; and making the optical fiber G1 pass through the inside of a cooling device 11, the method comprising: a determination step which determines, on the basis of vibration prediction information obtained from the outside, whether or not the optical fiber G1 is broken by generation of predicted vibration; and an avoidance step which, when it is determined in the determination step that the optical fiber G1 is broken, performs a fiber breakage avoidance operation for avoiding breakage of the optical fiber G1.</p> |
