A portable device, system incorporating such a device and a method of determining the level of a radio frequency (RF) for monitoring RF signals in areas where explosive devices are being used. The device has a plurality of antennae 206, 208, 210, wherein each antenna is configured to receive a range, or band, of RF signals. A detector 212 is configured to receive the output from the antennae and a controller (100, figure 1) is connected to the detector for monitoring. An interface provides an indication of the RF level in each RF band. Three frequency bands can be monitored. In addition the system/device can scan for RF signals generated by mobile communication devices, such as a cellular or mobile phones. The device can be located remotely from the controller. The system/device is configured to provide an alarm if the device detects an RF signal that exceeds a predetermined threshold. |
