PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for detection of moving direction which improves the accuracy of detecting a target object and reduces errors in detection. SOLUTION: The apparatus for detection of the moving direction includes a sensor unit of which the signal to be output changes depending on the presence of a target object, a comparison unit for output of a pulse signal indicating the presence of the target object by changing a threshold for determining the presence of the target object in accordance with a change in the level of the signal output from the sensor unit and comparing the signal output from the sensor unit to the threshold, and a decision unit for output of the moving direction of the target object on the basis of the pulse signal output from the comparison unit.
