PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber fuse remote detection apparatus capable of readily detecting the occurrence of fiber fuse to suppress the damage to an optical fiber and address the situation as quickly as possible when fiber fuse occurs in an optical fiber. SOLUTION: A fiber fuse remote detection apparatus of the present invention is provided with an optical pulse generator, light coupling means for entering the output from the optical pulse generator into an optical fiber, branching means for branching return light due to the occurred fiber fuse, wave-filtering means for selecting return light of an optical pulse from the return light, converting means for performing photo-electric conversion of the output light, measuring means for measuring the output as a function of time, signal processing means for finding a feature point that moves in a single direction by the output of the measuring means, and alarming means for issuing an alarm signal when such a feature point is found. The alarm signal is issued, for example, to interrupt an optical transmission and suppress the damage. Change in the reciprocation time of the pulse or the shortening of the single pulse, double pulse, or multi-pulse is detected to find the feature point. COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
