The method involves supporting a rotor for freeing of turbine bearing by the weight force of rotor. A support plate (34) is mounted to turbine bearing housing (10). Two mutually parallel bar-like elements (36) are arranged on support plate and crossbar (40) is secured to the ends of support plate. The turbine bearing is loosened and withdrawn from the turbine bearing housing.
