PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ETC system capable of enhancing security of a vehicle and toll collection staff at power shutdown with a simple structure independent of software. SOLUTION: An ETC system 1 according to the present invention is characterized by having: a lane guide display board 13 installed on an entrance side of an ETC lane 5 at a toll gate 2 for displaying guidance such as "ETC only," "ETC/general," and "Closed;" a start controller 31 equipped with a blocking bar 32 that rotates between an open position 32a and a closed position 32b and blocks a vehicle from passing at the ETC lane 5 at the closing position 32b; an open/closed display board 46 (display switching means) for automatically switching the display of the lane guide display board 13 to the "Closed" display at power shutdown; and blocking bar opening means for automatically rotating the blocking bar 32 of the start controller 31 to the open position 32a at power shutdown.
