PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a membrane element which can form a metal coating film assumed to have enough thickness to secure the sealability, as well as improved productivity, at both ends of a cylindrical support member at low cost without damaging the cylindrical support member; a manufacturing method thereof; and a membrane module. SOLUTION: On first and second metal coating film formation surfaces 21a and 21b which are located at both ends of the cylindrical support member 21 among outer peripheral side surfaces of the cylindrical support member 21 that consists of a porous ceramics, the membrane element has: the metal coating film 22 that consists of at least one metal layer formed by thermal spraying; and first and second metal fittings 25 and 26 provided at both ends of the cylindrical support member 21 through the metal coating film 22.
