A knife guard comprises an elongate U-shaped cross-section having a first, handle end and a remote, point end. The upper ends of the U point inward so that the ends are no more than 2mm apart. On the left side of the guard, as viewed from the handle end, the wall extends beyond the U-shaped cross-section by means of an outward curve having a first radius between 1 and 3cm. On the right side the wall extends beyond the U-shaped cross section by means of an outward curve having a second radius between 1.5 and 8cm. The first radius is less than the second radius. The height of the cross-section at the handle end is at least 1.5 times the height at the point end. The origin of the outward curves is the same for both curves. The curves extend from the handle end toward the point end for no more than half the length of the guard; and at the point end the U shape ceases and the right wall extends across the cross-section to close off the exit into the trough. The object of the invention is to enable rapid sheathing and unsheathing, reduce contamination and improve drainage. |
