PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve security and the operability of a user by preparing avoidance countermeasures to any unexpected control due to any erroneous input in case of inputting authentication information by a handy terminal. SOLUTION: A portable terminal comprises: means for accepting the setting of a password for accepting a password for log-in and avoidance characters for avoiding the execution of access restriction to data; means for, when a user performs log-in authentication, acquiring the number of times of errors until that time; means for determining whether or not the number of times of errors indicates that the set avoidance characters are valid from the acquired number of times of errors; means for, when it is determined that the number of times of errors indicates that the avoidance characters are valid, determining whether or not the avoidance characters are valid; and means for, when it is determined that the avoidance characters are valid avoidance characters, controlling the numerical value of the number of times of errors not to be updated.
