[Class 99 (i)] A connection point for vacuum cleaning installations comprises a box 9 having a socket to receive a hose pipe connector 11 which is secured by a bayonet type coupling. The box contains a valve comprising a plate 12 pivoted at 13 and having an opening 14. A recess 15 in the plate is engaged by a projection 20 on the connector so that the plate is moved to the open position when the connector is rotated to lock it in the socket where it may be retained by a spring detent.
