<p>In the event of an emergency affecting a wireless communication system, direct wireless links between a terminal (11 - 14) and a base-station (20) may become impaired. The terminal detects, or is informed of, the emergency and enters an emergency mode in which it forms a D2D link with another terminal, at least for its uplink communication with the base station. A controller (30) manages phases of operation in which D2D mode communication for allowing terminals to transmit information to other terminals, is alternated with D2I communication by which terminals still connected to a base station can transmit information back to the controller.</p> |
